Islamabad (Web Desk): On Friday, the new cabinet's portfolio assignments were unveiled, marking the beginning of key administrative changes.
As per the notification issued by the Cabinet Division, Hanif Abbasi has been appointed as the Federal Minister for Railways and Mustafa Kamal as Ministry of Health.
Khawaja Asif will retain his position as the Defence Minister, with Azam Nazir Tarar taking charge of the Ministry of Law, Justice, and Human Rights.
Abdul Aleem Khan has been assigned the portfolio of the Ministry of Communications, and Musadik Malik will head the Ministry of Climate Change.
Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui will be the Minister for Education and Chaudhry Salik has been assigned the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis.
Rana Tanveer is now solely responsible for the Ministry of National Food Security, while Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh has been appointed as the head of the Board of Investment.
Other key changes include Tariq Fazal Chaudhry as the Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Ali Pervaiz Malik as the Minister for Petroleum, and Khalid Hussain Magsi as the Minister for Science and Technology.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Munir Wattoo has been given the Ministry of Water Resources, Aurangzeb Khichi will lead the Ministry of National Heritage and Culture, Muhammad Junaid Anwar is in charge of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, and Raza Hayat Hiraj will oversee the Ministry of Defence Production.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs will now be headed by Sardar Yousaf, while Shaza Fatima has been appointed as the Minister for Information Technology, Rana Mubashar Iqbal will be the Federal Minister for the Public Affairs Unit while Rashid Ahmad Khan has been appointed the Minister for Food Security and Research.
Abdul Rehman Kanju has been entrusted with the role of Minister of State for Power, Bilal Azhar Kayani has been given the position of Minister of State for Railways, while Aqeel Malik steps into the role of Minister of State for Law and Justice.
Khail Das Kohistani will now serve as Minister of State for Religious Affairs, and Aoun Chaudhry has been appointed Minister of State for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Development. Talal Chaudhry has been assigned the portfolio of Minister of State for Interior and Narcotics Control, and Wajiha Qamar has been designated as Minister of State for Education and Training.
Meanwhile, Pervez Khattak has been appointed as Adviser to Prime Minister on Interior affairs and Muhammad Ali as Adviser on Privatization while Dr Syed Tauqir Hussain Shah has been assigned responsibility as adviser to the PM’s Office.
Moreover, Special Assistants to the Prime Minister (SAPM) include Haroon Akhtar, who has been given the portfolio of Industries and Production, Huzaifa Rehman, National Heritage and Culture; Mubarak Zeb, Tribal Affairs; and Talha Burki, Political Affairs.
This cabinet reshuffle follows the earlier oath-taking ceremony on February 27, where President Asif Ali Zardari administered the oath to 12 federal ministers, 9 ministers of state, and 3 advisers.
