Punjab CM Maryam announces to revamp over 1,200 BHUs across province

Lahore (Web Desk): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Tuesday reaffirmed the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz's (PML-N) dedication to the welfare of the people.

She made these remarks while inaugurating a new healthcare facility, the Maryam Nawaz Health Clinic, in Lahore.

Speaking on the occasion, she stressed that healthcare is a basic right for every citizen and should be accessible to all.

Maryam Nawaz shared that significant progress is being made in improving the healthcare system in Punjab.

Currently, the province is home to 2,500 Basic Health Units (BHUs), and over half of them—about 1,250—are set to be modernized by the end of the month.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to upgrade public health services.

Mayam Nawaz also highlighted the reinstatement of free medicines, which were a key feature of the health policy during the tenure of her father’s government but had been paused under the previous administration of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

The Punjab CM also announced an increase in the budget allocated for dialysis patients, raising it from Rs700,000 to Rs1 million to ensure better support for those in need.
