Islamabad (Web Desk): The Islamabad District and Sessions Court on Monday issued a directive for the arrest of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur after he repeatedly failed to appear in court for hearings related to charges of possessing unlicensed arms and liquor recovery case.

According to details, Judicial Magistrate Mubashir Hasan, who presided over the hearing, expressed dissatisfaction over Gandapur’s noncompliance with the court's instructions.

The court was informed that the investigating officer was absent, and the police had not submitted a report on the compliance of the previously issued arrest warrant.

The legal proceedings are connected to an incident from October 31, 2016, when Gandapur was booked by Islamabad Police.

Police reportedly recovered a number of illegal items in Gandapur’s vehicle, which was parked near the residence of PTI founder Imran Khan.

Gandapur had arrived in a motorcade with over 300 supporters but was stopped by the police due to the enforcement of Section 144, which bans gatherings.

When Gandapur’s group refused to disperse, the police began detaining them, and tensions escalated.

During the ensuing commotion, he fled into a nearby forest. A subsequent search of his vehicle revealed an assortment of items, including two submachine guns, ammunition, a bulletproof vest, a sealed bottle of whisky, and two number plates.

While the police maintained that the firearms were unlicensed, Gandapur argued that the weapons were legally registered as part of his security detail.

He also disputed the whisky bottle claim, insisting it actually contained honey.

Despite his explanations, the court has yet to see his appearance in connection with the case.

Later, the court adjourned the proceeding until January 21, reiterating its order for law enforcement to execute the arrest warrant and ensure Ali Amin Gandapur’s appearance in the next hearing.
