Peshawar (Web Desk): At least seven people including three children were injured in an explosion on Peshawar's Warsak on Tuesday.
According to rescue officials, an improvised explosive device (IED) went off on a busy road in Peshawar at 9:10am.
Warsak Superintendent Arshad Khan said the incident took place near Peshawar Public School.
He added that around four kilogrammes of explosives were used in the IED which was disguised as a "cemented block".
The injured were shifted to the Lady Reading Hospital where two children are said to be in critical condition. The ages of the children are between 7 to 10 years, the hospital's spokesperson said.
The police official also said that an investigation into the blast is underway. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has strongly condemned the blast on Warsak Road in Peshawar.
In a statement, the prime minister directed the relevant authorities to provide the best medical facilities to the children injured in the blast. He also prayed for their early recovery.
PM Kakar also directed the law enforcement agencies to complete investigation of the incident at the earliest.
"Terrorists will not be allowed to destroy peace of Pakistan, "the premier said, adding that those responsible for the incident will be identified and punished.
PM Kakar reaffirmed Pakistan's firm commitment in the war on terrorism saying it will continue till the complete elimination of the scourge.
