Islamabad’s entry, exit points sealed, mobile phone services suspended ahead of PTI's possible protest 

Islamabad (Web Desk): The Islamabad and Rawalpindi authorities have ceiled all exit and entry points of the twin cities by placing containers as the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced a protest rally at D-Chowk today (Friday).

According to reports, Murree Road, as well as the Islamabad Expressway, Sangjani, Sector G-11 Chowk, Golra Mor, and 26 Number Chowki are all closed.

Metro bus has also suspended operation for several stops while private schools remain closed in the twin cities.

The administration has heightened security in Rawalpindi, deploying 4,000 personnel and officer.

All the roads connecting the twin cities from across Punjab including Lahore have been blocked.

Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) authorities have enforced Section 144 and the Peaceful Assembly Act across the capital, prohibiting gatherings and processions in restricted areas as part of tightened security measures.
According to a statement by police spokesperson, the high-security zone, red zone, and surrounding areas have been designated as restricted, with strict enforcement of the law. He said that the ICT Police is always busy protecting people’s lives and property.

The statement said that anyone involved in illegal activities will be held accountable.

The spokesperson said that citizens are requested not to engage in any unlawful gatherings.

He further stated that legal action will be taken against those who attempt to disturb peace and order.

The citizens have been advised to follow traffic advisories for road closures while traveling.

The spokesperson said that guidance can be taken from Islamabad Police FM 92.4 and Pukar 15 to know the latest traffic situation.

“Citizens are advised to report any emergencies by dialing 15,” he added.

In Lahore, barriers have also been erected on the Motorway, Ring Road, Babusabu Interchange, and at GT Road from Shahdara to Pindi.

Meanwhile, the Punjab government has summoned the Rangers personnel while imposing Section 144 in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Attock and Sargodha ahead of PTI's Islamabad rally.

According to a notification issued in this regard, political gatherings, sit-ins, rallies or protests have been prohibited in the said cities.

As per the notification, Section 144 will remain imposed in Lahore till October 8, while in Rawalpindi, Attock and Sargodha, it will remain imposed till October 6.

"Gatherings can be a soft target for the terrorists," the notification stated.

PTI Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) chapter has completed preparations for the protest at D-Chowk in Islamabad.

KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur is seat to lead a convoy of party activists which will depart from Peshawar Interchange towards the federal capital.

As per the reports, PTI has decided to fully implement its plan for the protest at D-Chowk, with Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur leading the main convoy. Party leaders have instructed participants to bring slingshots, masks, salt, water, food supplies, mobile chargers, and other essential items to protect against teargas.

Equipment for removing containers, as well as ambulances, will also be part of the convoy. All party leaders have been strictly instructed to ensure their participation in the protest and to bring supporters along.
