Quetta (Web Desk): At least four people were killed and 32 others were injured in a blast targeting a bus in Balochistan's Turbat city on Saturday.
According to police, a bus going from Karachi to Turbat was targeted in the New Bahman area of the city.
A large number of police and security forces reached the scene and cordoned off the area and further investigations were being conducted regarding the blast.
The he injured were moved to a nearby hospital with five being in critical condition.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Zohaib Mohsin was also injured in the blast, police said. Six members of his family also sustained injuries in the explosion.
As per a statement by Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind, SSP Mohsin was slightly injured, along with four of his family.
The banned militant Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for the attack.
President Asif Ali Zardari Saturday condemned the bomb attack on a bus in Turbat.
In a statement, he expressed deep grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives in the terrorist attack.
President Zardari condoled with the bereaved families and prayed for grant of patience to them. He prayed for the early recovery of the injured.
The president said that operations would continue till complete elimination of the menace of terrorism.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned a remote controlled bomb blast in a bus in Turbat.
Expressing sympathies with the families of the victims, the prime minister prayed that may Allah, The Almighty, elevate the ranks of the martyrs of the incident. He also prayed for early recovery of the injured.
PM Shehbaz said that the terrorists would not succeed in their nefarious designs, adding that the government and security forces were taking action against terrorists.
He said the government was determined to root out terrorism from the country.
Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti condemned the attack and expressed deep grief and sorrow over the loss of precious human lives.
“Those who target the innocent do not deserve to be called human beings,” the Balochistan CM said, adding that he shared in the grief of the families affected by the incident and prayed for the recovery of the wounded.
