Pakistan launches second satellite

Islamabad (Web Desk/Agencies): Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) successfully launched the second satellite PakSat MM1 from Xichang Satellite Launch Center in China on Thursday.

The satellite PakSat MM1 has been conceived keeping in view the growing needs of the country in the broad spectrum of communication and connectivity.

Based on advanced communication technologies, PakSat MM1 will play a pivotal role in the socio-economic uplift of the country and will prove to be a stepping stone in the transformation of the country into Digital Pakistan.

The satellite will be available for its services by August this year, as per schedule.

Acting President, PM hail satellite launch as milestone

Acting President Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani has also congratulated the nation on the launch of Pakistan's second communication satellite, Paksat MM1. 

In a statement he appreciated the efforts of scientists and engineers for the launch of Paksat MM1.

The acting president expressed hope that the success of our space journey will continue.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has congratulated the entire nation on momentous occasion of the launch of Pakistan's second communication satellite, Paksat MM1.

In a statement today, he said this remarkable achievement marks a significant advancement in our space and communication capabilities.

“The launch of Paksat MM1 from China's Xichang Satellite Launch Centre is a testament to the strong collaboration and partnership between two countries,” he said.

PM Shehbaz said he is particularly excited about the potential impact of Paksat MM1 on internet connectivity across Pakistan.
“This achievement would not have been possible without the dedication and hard work of the talented individuals at the SUPARCO and all those involved in this mission," he noted.

The premier extended his sincere gratitude to each and every one of them for their unwavering commitment.
