Veteran Bollywood actor Manoj Kumar dies at 87 

Mumbai (Web Desk): Manoj Kumar, the legendary Bollywood actor and filmmaker, died at the age of 87 in Mumbai on Friday.

According to a medical certificate issued by Kokilaben Dhirubai Ambani Hospital, he died on Friday at 3:30 am with heart complications being the primary cause and decompensated liver cirrhosis listed as a secondary factor.

Known for his strong patriotic roles in iconic films such as Purab Aur Paschim and Kranti, Manoj Kumar earned the admiration of millions for his portrayal of national pride.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences, describing Kumar as a "legendary actor" and a symbol of patriotism, whose films stirred a sense of nationalism.

 Modi emphasized that Kumar’s legacy would continue to inspire generations to come.

Born in 1937 in Abbottabad, Kumar made his Bollywood debut in 1957, quickly gaining recognition with films like Gumnaam and Shaheed, both from 1965.

His directorial skills shone through in Shor (1972), and he earned the Filmfare Award for Best Director in 1975 for Roti Kapada Aur Makaan. His remarkable contribution to Indian cinema was honored with multiple accolades, including the Padma Shri in 1992 and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2015.

With Kumar’s death, tributes are pouring in from across India and other countries.
