Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his satisfaction with the ongoing decline in inflation, particularly with respect to the Consumer Price Index.
In a statement, he celebrated the government's progress as it completed its first year in office, pointing to the encouraging news of lower inflation rates.
PM Shehbaz pointed out that inflation had dropped to 1.5% in February 2025, the lowest recorded since September 2015.
“In comparison, inflation had been significantly higher in the same period last year, reaching 28%. From July 2024 to February 2025, the inflation rate was 5.9%, highlighting a substantial improvement over the previous year’s figures,” he said.
The prime minister attributed this progress to the collective efforts of the government’s economic team, which had worked diligently to improve the country's economic situation.
He praised the consistent teamwork among various institutions that had contributed to strengthening the economy and promoting a favorable business environment that attracted investment.
PM Shehbaz expressed optimism that the inflationary trend would continue to ease, emphasizing that it was the government's top priority to ensure that essential goods remained affordable for the public.
Earlier, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) stated that country's consumer price index inflation recorded a historic decline to 1.5%, the lowest in last nine and half years.
