Lahore (Web Desk): Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday met with the Chaudhry brothers of Pakistan Muslim League Quaid-e-Azam (PML-Q) as the major opposition parties have united to remove the prime minister through as no-confidence motion.
According to details, PM Imran inquired after the health of former premier and PML-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and discussed the overall political situation of the country.
The premier was accompanied by a delegation comprising Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, federal ministers Hammad Azhar, Fawad Chaudhry, commerce adviser Abdul Razak Dawood and MNA Amir Dogar among others.
PML-Q leaders including federal minister Moonis Elahi, Punjab Assembly Speaker Pervaiz Elahi, Chaudhry Salik Hussain and others were also part of the meeting.
The PML-Q, is the main coalition partner of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) both in Punjab and at the Centre.
The recent meeting comes in light of the meetings of several opposition leaders including Pakistan Muslim ;eague-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shahbaz Sharif, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Co-chairman Asif Zardari, and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief and president of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) Maulana Fazlur Rehman, holding meetings with the Chaudhry brothers in order to take them on board for their no-confidence motion against PM Imran Khan.
Last month, the anti-government opposition alliance PDM and PPP announced bringing a no-confidence motion against PM Imran.
Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan, who arrived on a day-long visit to Lahore today, held a meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar.
The prime minister directed to take effective measures for the provision of maximum relief and ensuring the delivery of quality services to common man in Punjab, the Radio Pakistan reported.
He also instructed to protect the rights, lives and property of people and to take stern action against the encroachers, hoarders and miscreant elements in the society.
During the meeting the prime minister was briefed about developmental projects being carried out across the province.
Meanwhile, Member National Assembly (MNA) Sardar Nasrullah Dreshak also called on Prime Minister Imran Khan in Lahore on Tuesday.
Matters pertaining to overall political situation of South Punjab and ongoing developmental schemes were also discussed during the meeting.
