Islamabad (Web Desk): World Interfaith Harmony Week, celebrated annually during the first week of February, begins today (Saturday).

This observance was introduced in 2010 with the goal of encouraging peace, tolerance, and nonviolence across the globe.

The week is a time to promote mutual respect and understanding between different religious communities.

In his message on this occasion, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the importance of unity and condemned the rise of extremism and divisive rhetoric, which threaten social cohesion.

He called on religious leaders, community heads, and citizens to contribute towards building an atmosphere of brotherhood, understanding, and shared respect.

“Pakistan, envisioned by our founding father Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah as a sanctuary for all faiths, remains steadfast in its constitutional oath to protect every citizen's right to belief, dignity, and equality,” the premier asserted.

PM Shehbaz said that the government is committed to fostering an environment of acceptance, tolerance, and mutual respect.
