Don’t consider efforts for de-escalation as weakness: PM Imran warns India

Islamabad (Staff Report/Agencies): Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that efforts for de-escalation should not be considered weakness.

Addressing the joint session of Parliament on Thursday said, "The only purpose of our strike was to demonstrate our capability and will.”

"We did not want to inflict any casualty on India as we wanted to act in a responsible manner."

PM Khan said he tried to call Indian PM Narendra Modi on the phone yesterday because "escalation is not in our nor in India's interest".

The joint session of Parliament called to discuss the rising tension with India.

The premier stressed, "All issues should be resolved through dialogue. Despite us opening the Kartarpur corridor, we received no response from India."

PM Imran said that Pakistan will release captured Indian pilot tomorrow (Friday) as ‘peace gesture’.

"When the Pulwama attack happened, we were blamed within 30 minutes," he lamented. "I'm not saying that India has a part to play in India but I asked them to share evidence."
