Champions Trophy 2025: New Zealand win toss, field first against Bangladesh

Rawalpindi (Web Desk): New Zealand won the toss and decided to field first against Bangladesh in their opening match of the Champions Trophy 2025, being played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Monday.

The outcome of this game is particularly crucial for Pakistan, who are hoping for a Bangladesh victory to keep their chances alive in the tournament.

Pakistan suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of India just the day before, losing by six wickets in a high-pressure Group A encounter. With the host nation's campaign on the line, today's result could have a significant impact on their future in the competition.

Meanwhile, security has been beefed up around the venue, with more than 5,000 officers deployed by the Rawalpindi Police to ensure smooth operations. Over 350 traffic officers are overseeing the flow of vehicles in the area.

A special control room has been set up, and surveillance systems, including Safe City cameras and CCTV, are actively monitoring the stadium and surrounding areas. Snipers have been stationed on rooftops along the route to the venue, and a joint patrol by Police, Dolphin Force, and Elite Force units ensures heightened security.

Moreover, spectators attending the match will face strict security checks, including walk-through gates and full-body searches before entering the stadium.

As part of the protocols, parking outside designated areas is prohibited, and certain items, such as power banks, hands-free devices, AirPods, and food, are not allowed inside the venue.

With regular security briefings in place and coordination with the Pakistan Army, Rangers, and other agencies, the authorities are leaving nothing to chance.

Fans are advised to be mindful of the restrictions and stay alert to ensure a smooth experience while attending the match.
