Islamabad (Web Desk): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former premier Imran Khan has decided to halt negotiations with the government after it failed to establish a judicial commission within the agreed-upon seven-day timeframe.

Speaking to newsmen outside Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan revealed that Imran Khan, who has been in jail for over a year, expressed his dissatisfaction during a meeting earlier today with his legal team.

According to Barrister Gohar, the delay in the formation of the judicial commission left the PTI founder with no choice but to end the talks.

Negotiations between the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)-led government and the PTI began in late December in an attempt to reduce political tensions.

However, after several weeks and three rounds of talks, little headway has been made on major issues.

In a document submitted during the third session of talks on January 16, the PTI outlined several demands.

Main among them were the creation of two judicial commissions, which both the PTI and the government would mutually select within a week, and the release of what the PTI referred to as "political prisoners."

These demands highlight the deepening rift between the two parties, with the PTI pressing for accountability and a more transparent process, while the PML-N government appears resistant to making such concessions.

The lack of significant progress in the negotiations points to the ongoing political gridlock, with both sides seemingly entrenched in their positions. Despite the calls for cooperation, the path toward resolution remains unclear.
