The prime minister said that the gathering will show the world that the people of Pakistan stand in solidarity with people of occupied Kashmir.
PM Imran’s announcement of public comes a day after Pakistan delivered a joint statement on behalf of over 50 countries at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) on the human rights situation in occupied Kashmir.
The UNHRC statement called for the “removal of restrictions, respect and protection of the Kashmiri people, implementation of the recommendations of UN’s Kashmir reports and peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute through the implementation of the UN Security Council resolutions.”
Meanwhile, addressing the 42nd session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva on Tuesday, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi urged the UN Human UNHRC to constitute a commission of inquiry for investigation into blatant and grave human rights violations in Indian occupied Kashmir (IOK).
