Karachi (Staff Report): The new Hijri year 1440 will begin on September 12 (Wednesday) as Muharram-ul-Haram moon not sighted across the country.
A meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee under the chair of Chairman Mufti Muneeb ur Rehman for the sighting of Muharram-ul Haram moon held on Monday at Pakistan Meteorological Department’s office in the metropolis.
After the meeting, Muneeb ur Rehman announced that day of Ashura, which marks the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), will fall on September 21.
Earlier, the Met Office had predicted that Muharram-ul-Haram will begin on September 12.
