Gulf countries condemn Israeli map claiming territorial rights in neighbouring lands

Riyad (Web Desk) The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) along with other Gulf nation, has reiterated its condemnation and rejection of claims made by Israeli occupation regarding a map that depicts parts of Arab countries within its alleged borders.

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned and rejected the map showing parts of Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria, as part of Israel.

The Kingdom asserted that such extremist claims reflect the occupation authorities' intent to entrench their occupation, continue blatant assaults on the sovereignty of states, and violate international laws and norms.

Saudi Arabia also reiterated its call for the international community to assume its responsibility in halting Israeli violations against the region’s countries and peoples.

Qatar’s government was among the first to denounce the move, describing it as a blatant breach of established international laws and resolutions that protect the sovereignty of Arab nations.

Qatar expressed concern that such claims would further complicate efforts to achieve peace, particularly amid the ongoing violence in Gaza. It also called on the global community to increase pressure on Israel to respect international law and cease its territorial ambitions.

Similarly, the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) Foreign Ministry issued a sharp rebuke, characterizing the publication of the map as a deliberate provocation designed to reinforce Israel’s control over occupied territories.

The UAE emphasized its rejection of any attempt to alter the status of Palestinian lands, warning that such actions could worsen the already fragile situation in the region and obstruct any meaningful dialogue toward peace.
Saudi Arabia condemned and rejected map that claimed Jordanian, Syrian and Lebanese territories as part of so-called “greater Israel"

It stressed that such extremist allegations demonstrated Israeli intentions to consolidate its occupation, continue blatant attacks on the sovereignty of states, and violate international laws and norms.

This response from the Gulf states is part of a broader regional backlash against Israeli actions that have consistently been seen as defying international norms.

The publication of the map comes amid a backdrop of long-standing tensions between Israel and its neighbours. In particular, the continued Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories, the ongoing settlement expansion in the West Bank, and the denial of East Jerusalem as the capital of a future Palestinian state are seen as direct violations of United Nations (UN) resolutions.

The Gulf states' reactions were joined by voices from other Arab nations, including Jordan and Palestine, who also condemned the map’s claims.

This incident is reminiscent of a controversial statement made by Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich in 2023, when he presented a map of greater Israel, which controversially included Jordan.

Such moves have repeatedly raised alarms in the region, where the specter of Israeli territorial expansion is viewed as a direct challenge to the established borders and sovereignty of neighboring Arab states.

For many in the Arab world, these actions are seen not only as an assault on Palestinian rights but as part of a broader Israeli agenda aimed at undermining regional stability and thwarting any possibility of a two-state solution.

For decades, Israel has maintained its occupation of territories in Lebanon, Palestine, and Syria, defying international calls for withdrawal and opposing the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital based on pre-1967 borders.

The map, which was shared by official Israeli social media accounts, has ignited a wave of outrage, particularly in the Arab world, as it is seen as a provocative assertion of Israeli expansionism.
