Islamabad (Staff Report): Ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif along with his daughter daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (retd) Muhammad Safdar arrived at an accountability court in Islamabad on Tuesday for a hearing pertaining to corruption references filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against his and his family.
At least five prosecution witnesses are expected to appear before the court to record their statements. The witnesses will also be cross-questioned by Nawaz's attorney, Advocate Khawaja Haris.
During the previous hearing, the NAB had presented two witnesses.
This is the 12th time Nawaz has appeared before the court.
Strict security arrangements have been made ahead of each of the former premier's appearances at the accountability court.
A five-member bench of the Supreme Court on July 28 had directed NAB to file references against Nawaz and his children in six weeks in the accountability court and directed the trial court to decide the references within six months.
