Washington (Web Desk): A Holocaust Museum of the United States of America on Wednesday canceled a human rights award given to Aung San Suu Kyi, the Myanmar’s leader of Myanmar, over her failure to use her “moral authority” to halt a brutal military campaign.
The museum announced that it had withdrawn the Human Rights award “Elie Wiesel award,” presented to Aung San Suu Kyi in 2012.
Holocaust Museum authorities and officials cited her refusal to condemn or stop the mass murder of Muslim Rohingya minority of Myanmar.
The officials also lighlighted the human rights vilation are made in Myanmar and demanded Myanmar’s leader Aung San Suu Kyi to stop the aggression against minority community of the state.
Suu Kyi’s party won victory in 2015 and she became state counselor, Barack Obama relaxed sanctions, gave financial assistance to her and became the first sitting US president to visit Myanmar.
However, Aung San Suu Kyi’s international reputation has collapsed over the Rohingya massacres and she has been criticised as an apologist for the purges. She has not even spoken the word Rohingya in public.
