Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has felicitated Pakistan Army's Christian officer Julian Moazzam James for being promoted to the rank of major general.
In his congratulatory message, PM Shehbaz said that the services of Christian community for the progress, development and defence of country are unforgettable.
Expressing best wishes to James for the future, the prime minister termed his professional skills and hard work as a beacon for young generation.
James is not the first Christian to hold the rank of major general in the Pakistan Armed Forces—Julian Peter was the first. Peter, who passed away in March 2023, served in the 1971 India-Pakistan War with the 4th Frontier Force Haidry Regiment in the Hilli Sector of what was then East Pakistan, now Bangladesh.
Similarly, Noel Israel Khokhar, another Christian officer, was promoted to major general in 2009 and is currently serving as Pakistan’s ambassador to Ukraine.
Last month, Helen Mary Roberts from minority Christian community was promoted to the Pakistan Army’s rank of brigadier. She served at the Army Medical Corps.
