Islamabad (Web Desk): The 66th martyrdom anniversary of Major Tufail Muhammad, the second recipient of Nishan-e-Haider, is being observed today (Thursday).
He embraced martyrdom while fighting gallantly at Lakshmipur sector in East Pakistan in 1958.
Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed was born in Hoshiarpur city of the eastern Punjab, on July 221914.
In August 1958, he was assigned to launch an offensive against Indian forces in the area of Lakshmipur.
Despite fatal injuries, he resolutely completed his mission, exemplifying unparalleled bravery, unwavering resolve, and unrelenting dedication to duty and embraced martyrdom.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have paid glowing tributes to Major Tufail Muhammad on his 66th martyrdom anniversary.
In their separate messages, they commended the valiance of Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed saying he embraced martyrdom while bravely facing the enemy.
President Asif Ali Zardari said the entire nation is proud of its martyrs. He said Pakistani nation will never forget their sacrifices.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed's sense of duty, courage, bravery and upholding the pledge to protect the country is an example for the young generation.
He said Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed foiled the evil designs of the enemy and accomplished his mission without caring about his wounds.
Armed forces, services chiefs, CJCSC pay glowing tribute to Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed.
“Armed Forces of Pakistan, the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), and the Services Chiefs have paid a solemn and heartfelt tribute to Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed, recipient of the prestigious Nishan-e-Haider, on the occasion of his 66th martyrdom anniversary today,” the Inter-Services Public Relations said in a statement.
The military’s media wing said that Major Tufail Muhammad, the second recipient of the esteemed Nishan-e-Haider, valiantly laid down his life in 1958 while fearlessly engaging the enemy in the Lakshmipur sector of East Pakistan. Despite fatal injuries, he resolutely completed his mission, exemplifying unparalleled bravery, unwavering resolve, and unrelenting dedication to duty.
“The martyrdom anniversary of Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed serves as a poignant reminder of the extraordinary sacrifices and selfless devotion of the Pakistan Armed Forces in defending the motherland,” the ISPR said.
Meanwhile, Quran Khawani was held in mosques on the occasion of martyrdom anniversary of Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed. Special prayers were held for the elevated status of the martyr.
The religious scholars paid glowing tributes to the sacrifices of martyrs for the homeland.
They said Major Tufail Muhammad was a brave son of the soil who will always live in the hearts of Pakistani people. They said who sacrificed their lives for the dignity of the country undoubtedly deserve respect and honour.
