Islamabad (Web Desk): United Nations (UN) Secretary General Antonio Guterres will arrive in Islamabad on Sunday to attend International Conference on Afghan refugees.
According to the Foreign Office, the two-day conference — “40 years of Afghan Refugees Presence in Pakistan: A New Partnership for Solidarity” — would be held in Islamabad on Feb 17-18.
Prime Minister Imran Khan will inaugurate the conference, which will be attended by participants from 20 countries.
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is co-hosting the conference.
During his four day stay, the UN Secretary General will hold meetings with President Dr Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Imran Khan and Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the Radio Pakistan reported.
Pakistan's perspective on all aspects of Jammu and Kashmir dispute will be shared during these meetings with the UN Secretary General.
The Secretary-General’s other engagements include interactions with parliamentarians, media and the youth.
He will deliver special talks on themes of sustainable development, climate change and peacekeeping.
The UN Secretary-General will pay a visit to Lahore. He will also travel to Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib.
