Islamabad (Staff Report): Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Thursday is chairing the concluding session of Pakistani envoys’ conference continued for the third and final day in Islamabad over new US policy on Afghanistan war and the challenges arising as a result of the revised approach, and the Kashmir issue.
During the conference, Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif and Defence Minister Khurram Dastgir deliberated over regional and global dimensions of Pakistan’s foreign policy and the challenges involved following Donald Trump’s revised policy towards Afghanistan.
According to detail, potential strengths of the country’s foreign policy and options available in view of the geo-political and regional situation are also being discussed.
Minister of commerce, minister of interior and national security adviser were also among the attendees, apart from ambassadors of Pakistan from select countries and other officials.
According to details, Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua gave a briefing to the premier and other participants on the country's foreign policy challenges and outlook.
Envoys in various countries, including the United States, Russia, China, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Afghanistan, Iran, and India are participating in the conference.
Khawaja Asif addressed the inaugural session of the conference on Tuesday, where he reiterated Pakistan's stance that there is no military solution to the Afghan conflict.
The foreign minister also insisted on the need to highlight continuing human rights violations in Indian occupied Kashmir on all available international platforms.
