Islamabad (Staff Report): Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has directed authorities concerned to utilise all available resources for ensuring uninterrupted supply of electricity.
While chairing a meeting of Cabinet Committee on Energy on Monday, Nawaz said the government had focused on adding base load thermal power projects which would ensure availability of power throughout the year even during lean periods of Hydro power generation in 2018 and onwards.
Nawaz directed the Ministry of Water and Power to immediately resolve 'upfront tariff' issues with National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) for various kinds of sources including LNG, solar, coal, furnace oil, diesel and gas.
The Water and Power Secretary Younus Dagha told the meeting about current load management plan, implementation status of planned and ongoing energy projects and enhancement of transmission system.
Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) Chairman Lt Gen (R) Muzammil Hussain briefed the meeting on progress of Hydroelectic power projects in Dasu, Diamer Bhasha and Mohmand Dam.
