Islamabad (Staff Report/Agencies): Prime Minister Imran Khan inaugurated Islamabad National University at the Prime Minister's House on Friday.
The announcement for the formal launch of the university was made during a seminar titled "Emerging Challenges and Opportunities for Pakistan".
Addressing the event, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that the establishment of Islamabad National University at the PM House was aimed at reducing gap between the government and public.
“No nation can make progress without quality education”, the PM said adding that education is imperative for progress and development.
Quoting the best examples of China and Singapore, the PM said that these two countries made major economic development through quality education.
Imran Khan said that the focus of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government is the promotion of education.
Reaffirming the stance of his government, the prime minister said that the overall standard of education would be improved.
He assured full cooperation to Higher Education Commission (HEC) for providing quality education to youth.
Foreign diplomats were present at the opening. Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Yao Jing also spoke on the occasion.
This is pertinent to mention that Prime Minister Imran Khan had approved the formation of committees in October to evaluate the draft charter for the establishment of a university at the PM House and the selection of its vice-chancellor.
PM Khan had also approved the formation of the Institute of Advanced Studies in the first phase of the university.
