Islamabad (Web Desk): Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Minister and head of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) Asad Umar has urged all frontline health workers to get themselves registered in their respective areas for the COVID-19 vaccine.
In a statement, the minister said that frontline workers are the top priority and all efforts will be made for their safety and protection.
As per the NCOC, health workers vaccinated across the country so far include, 32,860 in Sindh, 15,494 in Punjab, 1,639 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), 1,013 Gilgit-Baltistan, 651 in Azad Kashmir, 859 in Islamabad and 252 in Balochistan.
On February 3, the national immunization drive against COVID-19 formally began across the country.
According to details, the healthcare staffs were administered with first shots of Sinopharm vaccine at a NCOC in Islamabad.
NCOC chief Asad Umar initiated the national immunisation drive in a special ceremony while the chief ministers of all provinces had participated in the event via video link.
It is pertinent to mention that the entire first tranche of the vaccine will be administered to frontline health care workers the real heroes of Pakistan’s response to COVID and who have been fighting this pandemic saving precious lives as per the outlined priority of the NCOC and all stakeholders.
The authorities have established Adult Vaccine Administration across the country and an inoculation process is in place supported by the digital mechanism.
