Global COVID-19 cases surpass 37.1 million

New York (Web Desk): The tally of COVID-19 cases across the world has jumped to over 37.1 million while the pandemic has claimed more than one million lives so far.

As per the details, the United States (US) is worst hit country with over 7.8 million cases of infections and nearly 218,600 deaths followed by India with over 6.9 million cases and over 107,400 deaths. More than 27.9 million patients have recovered.

Meanwhile, Brazil has registered 682 additional coronavirus deaths over the last 24 hours and 27,444 new cases, the nation’s health ministry said.

The South American country has now registered 5,055,888 total confirmed coronavirus cases and 149,639 total deaths.

Moreover, Europe surpassed 100,000 daily reported Covid-19 cases for the first time on Thursday, after countries such as Russia and United Kingdom saw no respite in the mounting number of infections every day in the past five days, a foreign news agency reported.

Cases throughout Europe have been steadily rising over the past week even as new infections in worst-affected countries such as India and Brazil have shown signs of slowing down.

According to a report in the foreign news agency, the epi-centre of the outbreak in the European region has moved to the United Kingdom, Russia, Spain and France which have reported at least over 10,000 cases each in the last three days.
