Karachi (Staff Report): The US dollar on Friday touched a new record high of Rs149 in the interbank market.
The greenback gained another Rs2.48 in the interbank market to reach the latest peak.
On Thursday, the dollar reached an all-time high of Rs148 in the interbank market.
The greenback was valued at Rs141.5 on Wednesday, but climbed roughly Rs6.50 to hit a historical peak today, with speculation rife in the forex market that the rupee may slide further.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed authorities concerned to take action against foreign exchange companies selling US dollar at higher rates.
While, presiding over a high-level meeting, PM Imran ordered to take strict action against the companies deviating from set currency rates.
