Islamabad (Agencies): President Arif Alvi has urged the United Nations to send observers to the occupied Kashmir to ascertain the seriousness of the situation.
Addressing the joint session of the Parliament on Thursday, President Alvi said Indian measures in occupied Kashmir are threatening global peace.
"India's illegal actions have threatened peace in the region. Pakistan has always responded to India's warmongering with offers of dialogue. He said the primary purpose of the government is to make Pakistan a welfare state.
Prime Minister Imran Khan, the chiefs of the navy and air force, and chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee are attending the session.
The President had summoned both the Houses of the Majlis-e-Shoora (Parliament) to assemble together.
The President had also summoned the session of the National Assembly on Friday, September 13, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in the Parliament House, Islamabad.
The president summoned both the sessions in exercise of powers conferred by clause (1) of Article 54 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
The National Assembly completed its first parliamentary year on August 12.
