Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The total number of recovered COVID-19 patients in Pakistan reached 315,446 on Tuesday after another 430 virus recoveries were reported during the last 24 hours.
Over the last twenty four hours, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases rose to 336,260 after 1,167 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country.
Overall, 146,774 cases were reported in Sindh, 104,894 in Punjab, 39,749 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 15,977 in Balochistan, 20,243 in Islamabad, 4,293 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 4,330 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
According to the government's Covid-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached 6,849 with 14 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on National Health Services Dr Faisal Sultan has said that re-emergence of COVID-19 can pose threat to the people’s health if necessary measures are not taken in time.
In an interview with a private television channel, he said strict implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) is must to combat the coronavirus pandemic.
The SAPM said that wearing mask could help minimize the effects of the virus.
Dr Faisal stressed the need for implementation of the SOPs through local administration to protect public from the virus.
It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 46.4 million and death toll tops 1.19 million.
