President Zardari, PM Shehbaz condole death of Bangladesh's former prime minister Khaleda Zia

Islamabad (Web Desk): President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday expressed deep grief and sorrow over the passing of former Bangladesh prime minister and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) chairperson Khaleda Zia.

In their separate messages shared on social media platform X, the president and the premier extended condolences to her family and to the nation of Bangladesh, acknowledging her prominent role in the country’s political landscape and public life.

President Zardari wrote, “Her leadership and services will be remembered with respect,” highlighting the regard in which she was held.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Khaleda Zia devoted her life to serving Bangladesh, adding that her contributions to the country’s progress and development would be remembered as a lasting legacy.

Describing her as a steadfast friend of Pakistan, he noted that the government and people of Pakistan stood in solidarity with the people of Bangladesh during this time of mourning.

The president and the prime minister also prayed for eternal peace for the departed soul and for strength and patience for the people of Bangladesh to endure the loss.

Deputy Prime Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar also expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of Begum Khaleda Zia.

In his message on X, the DPM wrote, “Heartfelt condolences on the sad demise of Begum Khaleda Zia, former Prime Minister of Bangladesh and Chairperson, BNP.
