Leghari directs DISCOs to finalise Consumer Perception Survey schedule 

Islamabad (Web Desk): Federal Minister for Energy (Power Division) Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari has instructed all power distribution companies (DISCOs) to complete the framework and timeline for the Consumer Perception Survey and initiate the process at the earliest.

The directive was issued during a meeting chaired by the federal minister, where he stressed that the survey should be designed according to the standards prescribed by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA).

He said this would ensure that consumers’ opinions are properly reflected and given meaningful consideration.

Leghari noted that the survey would provide an assessment of how satisfied consumers are with the services and overall performance of DISCOs. He added that the feedback and results gathered through the exercise would also be used to inform future policymaking.

The minister also called for the survey to receive the required approval as soon as possible, allowing the exercise to begin without any further postponement.

According to the directives, the survey will be conducted on a compulsory basis twice a year, while the annual plan must include at least one round during the summer season.

Leghari said the initiative should not be viewed simply as a routine government exercise. Rather, he described it as a practical step reflecting the government’s focus on protecting consumer interests and raising the standard of services provided to the public.

He encouraged consumers to share candid and accurate views when participating in the survey, saying their feedback could help improve the performance of relevant institutions and support more informed, transparent and effective decision-making by the government and concerned authorities.

He added that the process would ultimately help build greater public trust and satisfaction with services in the power sector.
