Afghanistan: Report warns of human rights violations, increasing atrocities against women under Taliban regime

Kabul (Web Desk): The situation of human rights in Afghanistan has deteriorated to an alarming degree, reaching levels not seen before.

A recent report released by the Afghan rights group Rawadari states that over the past year, citizens have faced growing curbs on their basic freedoms, while violence and discriminatory treatment against women and minority groups have risen sharply.

The report reveals a significant 40.4 percent increase in cases involving targeted assassinations, unlawful killings, enforced disappearances, and instances of torture during the period under review.

It also notes that a total of 611 individuals were singled out and affected by actions carried out by the authorities.

In addition, the report highlights the deepening crisis surrounding women’s rights, linking it to increasingly rigid authoritarian measures and the expansion of restrictive and coercive laws.
