Pakistan reaffirms unwavering solidarity with victims of torture in IIOJK: PM Shehbaz

Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has voiced serious concern over what he described as the systematic use of torture by foreign occupying powers, urging the international community to hold those responsible accountable.

In his message marking the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, the prime minister said the people of Palestine and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir continue to face state repression, torture, and inhuman treatment under occupying authorities.

He called on the international community, the United Nations, and global human rights organisations to take effective action against those responsible for such violations and strengthen international cooperation to protect victims of torture.

The prime minister said grave and ongoing human rights abuses have been committed in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir for decades. He stressed the need for accountability and justice for the victims.

Reaffirming Pakistan's support, Shehbaz Sharif said the country stands in solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and continues to support their right to self-determination in accordance with the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.
