Pakistan reaffirms unwavering resolve to combat terrorism, support victims 

Islamabad (Web Desk): Pakistan has reaffirmed its unwavering resolve to combat terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

In a message released on the International Day of Remembrance and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism, the Foreign Office (FO) highlighted the enormous human and financial cost Pakistan has borne in its prolonged battle against terrorism.

The FO said that more than 90,000 Pakistanis have been killed in terrorist violence, while the country’s economy has sustained losses of over $150 billion during the fight against the threat.

The FO observed that terrorism is becoming more complex as militant groups increasingly turn to new technologies and cyberspace to plan and carry out highly sophisticated and deadly attacks.

Pakistan, it added, has also been victim of disinformation and misinformation operations, hydro-terrorism and assassination campaigns carried out beyond national borders.

The FO further pointed out that 2025 ranked among the most violent years Pakistan had experienced in more than a decade.

It said terrorist violence was being organised, funded and controlled from safe havens located across the border, with hostile actors in neighbouring countries allegedly providing support.

Despite the growing nature of these challenges, Pakistan, the statement stressed, would continue its efforts to eliminate terrorism and remain firm in its resolve to protect its people.

The FO also reaffirmed that Pakistan expresses solidarity with the people of Kashmir, drawing attention to what it described as continuing systematic repression, enforced disappearances and arbitrary detentions in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

The statement also expressed deep concern over the ongoing hardships faced by Palestinians, particularly children, women and elderly people, despite attempts to secure ceasefires and pursue diplomatic solutions.

It maintained that foreign occupation, unresolved disputes and the denial of peoples’ right to self-determination can create conditions that extremists and terrorist groups may exploit, making the resolution of such issues an urgent necessity.

“Pakistan called upon the international community to support victims and survivors of terrorism without discrimination and enhance international cooperation and dialogue on the basis of objectivity, impartiality, consistency and equity, without double standards, to promote a peaceful world for future generations,” the FO statement said.
