Pakistan stands with torture victims, condemns abuses in Palestine and IIOJK

Islamabad (Web Desk): Marking the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, Pakistan has reaffirmed its solidarity with victims globally, particularly in the occupied regions of Palestine and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), where people continue to suffer under oppressive regimes.

In a statement issued today, the Foreign Office reiterated Pakistan’s firm stance against all forms of torture and reaffirmed its ongoing efforts to eliminate such practices. The country remains committed to promoting human dignity and ensuring the protection of fundamental rights for all.

Highlighting the values rooted in Islam, the statement declared that acts of torture are in direct contradiction to the teachings of justice, compassion, and humanity. “Islam honors the dignity of every individual,” the statement emphasized. “Torture and other cruel or degrading treatment stand in clear opposition to these principles.”

Pakistan also outlined its domestic efforts to tackle the issue, including strengthening legal protections, improving institutional accountability, and enhancing support systems for survivors — such as medical, legal, and psychological assistance.

The statement expressed serious concern about the routine use of torture in conflict zones like the Occupied Palestinian Territories and IIOJK, where occupying forces are accused of using brutal methods to silence voices calling for freedom and basic rights.

Calling for global action, Pakistan urged the international community to denounce such violations and push for accountability. The country stressed the importance of supporting victims and safeguarding their rights under international law.
