Lahore (Web Desk): On the occasion of Ashura, mobile phone services have been partially suspended in 24 districts of Punjab as part of heightened security measures.
According to a notification issued by the Federal Ministry of Interior, the restriction will remain in effect until 10:00 PM. However, mobile services have not been completely shut down; instead, they are being limited only in sensitive areas where processions and religious gatherings are taking place.
Authorities stated that the decision was made on the recommendation of the Punjab Home Department to ensure law and order during large religious processions and to prevent any potential security threats.
Officials further clarified that mobile services in Lahore and some other districts will remain fully operational without interruption.
The districts affected include Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Hafizabad, Gujrat, Narowal, Faisalabad, Multan, Sahiwal, Rahim Yar Khan, and several others among a total of 24 districts, where restrictions are being enforced only in designated sensitive zones.
The administration has urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and follow all security guidelines.
