Karachi (Web Desk): The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) on Sunday announced that mobile services in some parts of Karachi will remain partially suspended till the 10th of Muharram (July 29).
The telecommunication regulator, in a statement, said that the decision to suspend the services has been taken on Interior Ministry’s request.
Meanwhile, the Government of Sindh banned pillion riding on Muharram 9, 10.
In a notification, the Sindh Home Department said pillion riding would be banned on Muharram 9 and 10.
However, women, children below the age of 12 years, senior citizens, disabled persons, journalists, law enforcers, and essential services personnel have been exempted from the ban, it read.
The Sindh Home Department said it had also banned people — except uniform staff, police, rangers, and LEAs — from carrying arms/ammunition of all types.
The holy month, marking the beginning of the new Islamic year 1445 AH, began today (July 20), and the Youm-e-Ashura will be observed on July 29 (Saturday).
