Heavy rainfall, thunderstorms across country from March 24-30: PMD

Islamabad (Web Desk): The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather alert, forecasting a new spell of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms across the country from March 24 to March 30. Strong winds are also expected in several regions.

Under the current system, Sindh is likely to experience rainfall in two phases. The first phase is predicted on March 25 and 26, affecting Karachi and Hyderabad, while the second phase, expected on March 28 and 29, may bring further showers.

Other Sindh cities, including Sukkur, Dadu, Kashmore, Jacobabad, and Larkana, are also likely to receive rain.

The weather system is expected to affect parts of Punjab, including the federal capital, Islamabad, as well as areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, where thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds are possible.

In the northern regions, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir are expected to witness rainfall, which may lead to a drop in temperatures and intensification of cold weather.

Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant against potential waterlogging, urban flooding, and wind-related damage. The PMD has advised following daily updates to stay informed about changing conditions.
