Islamabad braces for key US-Iran talks as American delegation arrives today

Islamabad / Washington (Web Desk): In a rapidly evolving diplomatic situation between Washington and Islamabad, Donald Trump has taken a firm stance on the ongoing tensions with Iran, pairing warnings of potential military action with a push for a diplomatic solution in which Pakistan is expected to play a central role.

Speaking after an emergency meeting in the White House Situation Room, he issued a strong warning to Tehran, stating that if negotiations fail this time, the United States would not hesitate to target Iran’s key infrastructure, including power plants and bridges.

He also claimed that sustained American pressure and blockade measures have already caused Iran losses of around $500 million, significantly weakening its naval and air capabilities.

The US president further announced that a high-level delegation comprising Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner is expected to arrive in Islamabad by Monday evening, where crucial talks are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday. Highlighting the importance of these discussions, he indicated that he may personally visit Pakistan if the negotiations in Islamabad prove successful.

Meanwhile, Iran responded strongly to the US warnings. Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei stated that the country’s navy is fully prepared for any potential conflict and warned that any aggression would be met with a decisive response.

Ahead of the US delegation’s arrival, security in Islamabad has been significantly tightened, with the Red Zone completely sealed and extraordinary measures put in place. As tensions remain high, the international community is closely watching Pakistan, where the upcoming talks could play a decisive role in shaping the future course of the crisis.
