Pakistan taught India unforgeable lesson during war in May, says PM Shehbaz 

Muzaffarabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday said that that Pakistan’s armed forces taught a decisive and unforgettable lesson to India during the May 2025 conflict, asserting that the outcome marked a historic moment for the country.

Speaking at the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (UAJK) during the formal launch of the Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Programme in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, he said that Pakistan emerged from the confrontation with not only military success but also clear moral superiority, which strengthened the nation’s position regionally and internationally.

He emphasized that the unity displayed by the Pakistani nation during the conflict played a crucial role in achieving this success, noting that solidarity between the people and the armed forces sent a powerful message.

Highlighted the immense potential of Pakistan’s youth, describing them as the nation’s most valuable resource and asserting that investing in their education and skills is an investment in the country’s future.

PM Shehbaz emphasized that laptops are more than just devices—they are gateways to knowledge, global opportunities, and personal growth.

He shared inspiring examples of students who had used laptops from earlier initiatives to pursue careers and overcome social and economic hurdles.

“Our youth, particularly Generation Z, are more tech-savvy, aware, and capable than any generation before them,” the prime minister said.

He urged young people to engage positively in the digital world while being cautious about misinformation and fake news.

“Today, narratives often shape perception of truth. Educated youth must uphold facts and responsibility,” the premier added.

Addressing criticism that such programmes could be politicized, he stressed that previous laptop distributions were carried out strictly on merit.

PM Shehbaz also pointed to their vital role in continuing education during the Covid-19 pandemic as evidence of their importance.

He further announced several significant education initiatives for Azad Jammu and Kashmir, including the approval of four Danish Schools, plans for a technology-focused Danish University, and the revival of the Prime Minister’s Education Endowment Fund.

He said that the fund will provide scholarships to talented students from underprivileged backgrounds in AJK, Gilgit-Baltistan, Balochistan, and other regions, including opportunities for studying abroad.

On the Kashmir issue, he praised the resilience and sacrifices of its people, reaffirming Pakistan’s political, moral, and diplomatic support.

The premier called on citizens to work with unity, discipline, and faith to achieve national goals. “Our youth are the future of Pakistan. Given opportunities and merit, they will take both Pakistan and Kashmir to new heights,” he said.

PM Shehbaz expressed confidence that through continued unity, resolve, and diplomatic and moral support, the Kashmiri people would ultimately secure their rightful freedom and choose to join Pakistan.

He reaffirmed Pakistan’s longstanding commitment to the Kashmir cause, stating that the country would continue to stand by the Kashmiri people until their aspirations are fulfilled.

Speaking on the occasion, AJK Prime Minister Faisal Mumtaz Rathore noted that the laptop programme and new education projects reflected the federal government’s trust in Kashmiri youth, enabling them to compete at national and international levels.

He emphasized that merit-based initiatives would strengthen confidence among both students and their families.

Earlier, Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Ameer Muqam said that governance was improving and state institutions were regaining strength.

He expressed gratitude for the approval of a Daanish School in Haveli district, describing it as a milestone for the region’s educational development.

UAJK Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nasir Jamal Khattak welcomed the prime minister, saying the university was proud to host an event celebrating merit and academic excellence.

He added that access to modern technology would boost research, innovation, and learning outcomes for students.

During the ceremony, laptops were distributed to top-performing students, including merit scholars, amid applause.

The event also featured a guard of honour presented by the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Police contingent, marking the occasion with due ceremony.
