Lahore (Web Desk): The spell of dense fog began in the wee hours of Saturday and took over several parts of the country including Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar, to disrupt movement of traffic in Punjab, prompting closure of several sections of the motorway.
The citizens felt it difficult to set out of homes and travel as heavy smog blanketed the city with zero visibility. Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) instructed people to avoid unnecessary travels.
Important announcement of (CAA) directs the closure of Allama Iqbal International Airport till 9 am due to heavy fog that descended on Lahore.
The motorway police has closed the Lahore-Sheikhupura highway and Faisalabad-Pindi Bhattiya section of the motorway till the fog settles down.
Poor visibility due to fog is also reported from Shahrah-e-Faisal’s airport signal up till Malir halt in Karachi.
Moreover 16 national and international flights have been postponed and roads are closed from Pattoki to Okara due to accident.
Peshawar-Rashki interchange has also been closed down by the motorway police, as fog surrounds Peshawar.
DHA City, Super Highway and its surrounding areas are also facing zero visibility.
