Iranian FM Abbas Araghchi likely to arrive in Islamabad tonight: sources

Islamabad (Web Desk): Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts aimed at easing tensions in the Middle East and preventing a wider conflict are beginning to show tangible momentum as Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is scheduled to arrive in Islamabad tonight along with a small team.

According to government sources, the visit is a continuation of diplomatic efforts to resume second round of peace talks between the United States and Iran.

Ahead of his arrival, Abbas Araghchi held important telephonic discussions with Pakistan’s political and military leadership.

According to a statement by the Foreign Office (FO), the Iranian foreign minister spoke in detail on the evolving situation in the Middle East with Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar.

During these contacts, FM Araghchi acknowledged Pakistan’s active diplomatic engagement and expressed that Tehran highly values Islamabad’s sincere mediation efforts.

Meanwhile, Islamabad is witnessing unusual diplomatic activity as a US logistics and security team is already present in the federal capital ahead of the Iranian delegation’s arrival and is being seen as further evidence of the international importance being given to Pakistan’s mediation efforts.

Pakistan is currently playing the role of a diplomatic bridge between Iran and other global powers, working to de-escalate tensions and facilitate a pathway toward an immediate ceasefire in the region.
During the visit, Abbas Araghchi is expected to hold detailed discussions with Pakistan’s mediation team on a potential peace framework.

Both Pakistan and Iran have agreed to keep military and diplomatic channels actively engaged in order to support regional stability.

Analysts believe that Pakistan’s combined diplomatic outreach and military-backed engagement under the leadership of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, along with the government’s political initiatives, could become a significant turning point in addressing the ongoing Middle East crisis.
