Relief for Punjab as river flows return to normal: PDMA

Lahore (Web Desk): The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has stated that river flows across Punjab remain normal.

According to Director General (DG) PDMA Punjab Irfan Ali Kathia said that floodwaters have dropped considerably in the affected regions, making it possible for residents to move back to their homes.

He further mentioned that the authority, working jointly with other relevant institutions, is actively engaged in initiatives aimed at restoring normal life and assisting communities hit by the floods.

According to the latest updates, at Ganda Singh Wala on the Sutlej River, the flow has been recorded at 95,000 cusecs, while at Sulemanki it stands at 81,000 cusecs, indicating a moderate to low-level flood situation.

In the Chenab River, water flow has been measured at 55,000 cusecs at Marala, 24,000 at Khanki Headworks, 29,000 at Qadirabad, 35,000 at Head Trimmu, and 118,000 cusecs at Panjnad.

Similarly, the Ravi River is flowing with 6,000 cusecs at Jassar, 9,000 at Shahdara, 28,000 at Balloki Headworks, and 30,000 at Head Sidhnai. In the hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan Division, there is currently no water flow.

Officials from the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) and the Water Resources Authority have stated that with the improvement in weather conditions, the flood situation is under control.

Rehabilitation activities are being expedited to help restore normal life in the affected regions as soon as possible.
