Starmer says UK will not engage in direct conflict against Iran, focuses on diplomacy and evacuations

London (Web Desk): British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has clarified the United Kingdom’s (UK) stance amid escalating tensions between Iran and Israel.

During a high-level briefing, he made it unequivocally clear that Britain will not participate in any direct military conflict against Iran, Instead, London’s focus remains on diplomatic efforts and the safe evacuation of its citizens from the region.

Commenting on the situation in the Middle East, Prime Minister Starmer emphasized that the UK has no plans to deploy troops to a new front or engage in direct combat operations. He acknowledged the challenges of reopening the Strait of Hormuz but stressed that Britain will leverage its global influence to reduce tensions.

Citing official government figures, Starmer revealed that large-scale operations to evacuate British nationals are already underway.

So far, 92,000 British citizens have been safely evacuated from the conflict-affected areas via both government-organized and commercial flights.

 Emergency response teams are actively assisting British nationals in Lebanon, relocating them to secure locations.

Starmer underscored that restoring stability in the region is a top priority for Britain, aiming to protect both the global economy and human lives from further harm. He urged international powers to collaborate and work toward a peaceful resolution of the crisis.
