Pakistan, Norway stress need for de-escalation in Middle East

Islamabad (Web Desk): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Foreign Minister of Norway Espen Barth Eide held telephonic conversation to exchange views on regional developments and bilateral matters.

During the conversation, the two leaders voiced serious concern over the ongoing developments in the Middle East and the possible implications for the broader region and the world.

They underscored the importance of easing tensions, adhering to international law, and resolving disputes through dialogue and diplomatic channels.

The two leaders also discussed the situation relating to Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Both sides reiterated their strong condemnation of terrorism in all its forms and expressions.

The Norwegian foreign minister also expressed sympathy over the loss of lives in the recent terrorist attack at a mosque in Islamabad.

The two leaders agreed to stay in close communication and continue consultations on bilateral relations and other matters of shared interest.
