PM awards Rs2.5m to struggling footballer Riaz, promises him govt job

Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that athletes receive the necessary support and resources to compete internationally.

During a meeting with footballer Muhammad Riaz from Hangu, held in Islamabad on Friday, the premier highlighted the importance of youth as the nation's most valuable asset.

He stressed the need for young people to engage in sports and other positive activities.

PM Shehbaz expressed that exceptional athletes should be offered jobs in government institutions based on their skills and talents.

He further instructed that efforts to promote sports in Pakistan should be expedited and that a comprehensive strategy be developed to address the well-being of athletes who represent Pakistan abroad, while also creating long-term job opportunities for them.

The prime minister also took a moment to encourage Muhammad Riaz to continue pursuing his football career and play an active role in advancing the sport within Pakistan.

In recognition of Riaz's dedication, PM Shehbaz directed that he be offered a position at a federal institution of his choice.

On the occasion, the prime minister presented a cheque worth Rs 2.5 million to Muhammad Riaz.

Muhammad Riaz expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for the proactive measures aimed at improving the welfare of athletes and fostering the growth of sports in the country.

The meeting was attended by federal ministers Ataullah Tarar, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, PM’s Adviser Rana Sanaullah, Chairman of the PM’s Youth Program Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, and Media Coordinator Badar Shehbaz Warraich.
