President Zardari for expanding economic partnership, connectivity with Azerbaijan

Islamabad (Web Desk): President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening its close relationship with Azerbaijan during a meeting with Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Khazar Farhadov, at Aiwan-e-Sadr.

He emphasized that the bond between the two countries is founded on mutual respect, shared principles, and common goals, and expressed Pakistan’s eagerness to enhance collaboration, particularly in trade, economic ventures, and regional connectivity.

President Zardari highlighted that increasing trade relations, investment opportunities, and improving transportation links would not only bring Pakistan and Azerbaijan closer but also contribute to mutual growth and prosperity.

He extended congratulations to the ambassador on the recent historic peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, requesting that his best wishes be passed on to President Ilham Aliyev and the Azerbaijani people.

The president expressed hope that this accord would pave the way for enduring peace, stability, and development in the region.

He also welcomed the inauguration of direct flights connecting Pakistan and Azerbaijan, viewing this development as a positive move to promote commerce, tourism, and cultural exchanges between the two nations.

President Zardari expressed gratitude for Azerbaijan’s consistent support for the rightful cause of the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), acknowledging the country’s important role within the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Contact Group.
