PM Shehbaz hails Islamabad talks as major diplomatic breakthrough

Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has described the Pakistan-hosted talks between Iran and the United States aimed at ending decades-long tensions as a major diplomatic success, expressing optimism about positive progress.

Chairing a federal cabinet meeting, the prime minister was briefed on the country’s political, economic, security situation, and details of the “Islamabad Peace Talks.”

He told the cabinet that bringing Iran and the United States face-to-face after 47 years was a historic achievement credited to Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts, adding that both delegations attended the talks on Islamabad’s special invitation.

According to the briefing, the most significant development from the negotiations was an agreement on a two-week ceasefire, which officials hope will serve as a foundation for lasting peace.

The cabinet reportedly praised the diplomatic efforts of the prime minister, the deputy prime minister, and the field marshal for their role in facilitating the process.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan has now become a focal point of global expectations and will continue to play its role in promoting peace and stability in the region.
