Mumbai (Web Desk): Italy created history in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 by securing their first-ever win in the tournament, defeating Nepal by a commanding 10 wickets at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday.
Pursuing a small target of 124 runs, Italy made the chase look effortless, reaching the total in just 12.4 overs without losing a single wicket. Openers Justin Mosca and Anthony Mosca dominated from the start, putting together an unbeaten 124-run partnership to complete the victory in style.
Anthony Mosca played a breathtaking knock of 62 from 32 balls, blasting three boundaries and six towering sixes. His partner Justin Mosca anchored the innings with an unbeaten 60 off 44 deliveries, which included five fours and three sixes.
Earlier, Nepal were dismissed for 123 in 19.3 overs after a strong bowling performance from the Italian attack.
Aarif Sheikh was the highest scorer for Nepal with 27 off 24 balls, while skipper Rohit Paudel added a quick 23 from 14 balls, hitting two sixes. Aasif Shaikh chipped in with 20 runs, and Karan KC remained not out on 18 from 11 balls.
Nepal struggled to build momentum as opener Kushal Bhurtel fell early for five. Dipendra Singh Airee scored 17 before being removed by Crishan Kalugamage, while Lokesh Bam and Gulshan Jha could only manage three runs each.
Nandan Yadav was dismissed without scoring, Sandeep Lamichhane made five, and Lalit Rajbanshi was run out for zero.
Crishan Kalugamage starred with the ball for Italy, finishing with impressive figures of three wickets for 18 runs. Ben Manenti took two wickets, while Ali Hasan, JJ Smuts and Jaspreet Singh picked up one each, completing a dominant all-round display by Italy.
